Digital Citizenship

Today I was introduced to the idea of digital citizenship. The article that I read informed the reader that our world is becoming fully digital. The author made the point that we teach people to be productive citizens so shouldn't we teach them to be productive digital citizens? I do think that we should teach elementary students how to be productive digital citizens. This would include instruction on buying online, safety online, online bullying, and overall online etiquette. I don't think that our world is suddenly going to get rid of the internet, personally I don't think we should, but I do feel that we need to teach children (and maybe even adults), to be productive digital citizens.
